Scott moved to Portgordon in 2014 and soon became involved with the then Portgordon Community Harbour Group. He is 60 years old and had previously been a Director serving as the group’s Secretary and Chairperson.
Scott’s career within organisational operations and management was spent with US based government, not-for-profit and for profit organisations and corporations. He served in Senior and Executive management roles for over 20 years holding most frequently, the position of Vice President for Operations. These roles were held in both a large international holding corporations as well as in a large, vanguard, not-for-profit organisation focused on providing ‘cradle to grave’, life-long care and support to those with disabilities. Within NYC Government, he served as Bureau Director within various mayoral agencies. Scott is a founding and present member of the board of directors of a charitable organisation in the state of New York providing financial relief to those living with life altering cancer related illnesses. Scott was also a founding broadcaster/co-host of LGBT Public Radio broadcasts in the United States in addition to supporting a variety of small, community based volunteer based groups.
As a boat enthusiast, Scott moved to Portgordon because of its harbour and soon became involved in supporting the harbour through the former Portgordon Community Harbour Group. He shares with the group his familiarity with property management and development, organisational goal setting and achievement, strategic planning, inclusive management practices and a commitment to serving the community in which he lives.
A long-standing resident of Portgordon, this trustee has lived in the village since 2011 and brings more than 30 years of experience from the education sector. That career began in Aberdeen and the Shire before moving on to schools across Moray, including Portgordon, where a strong connection with local young people has grown.
Outside of work, interests include playing the flute and regular walks with her dog, Ashley, often along routes that pass the Primary School, where children like to offer a biscuit.
