Portgordon Community Trust are delighted to announce that they will be hosting an Open Day on Saturday 30th September 2023 between 1pm and 4pm. Attendees are invited to pop into any of our facilities at any time between 1pm and 4pm to see and hear about all the improvements being made in the community over the last year and hear about our ambitious plans for the future.
Visitors will be free to visit the following facilities:
THE COMMUNITY GARDEN:
Have a walk around our fantastic community garden adjacent to the harbour, speak to our volunteer gardeners, hear about their plans for the future and buy some of the produce.
THE RICHMOND BUILDING (PORTGORDON’S NEW COMMUNITY HUB):
Have a walk around the former Richmond Arms Hotel, purchased by the Trust in February this year. Hear about all the works completed under Phase 1 of our re-development of the building and also about the
support we have received from our funding partners. See our new community meeting space and our new offices. Hear about spaces available for hire for small events, group meetings, classes, hot-desking
opportunities, wi-fi access etc. Chat with our volunteers and our Community Development Officer. Review our impressive plans for the future of the building under Phase 2 and 3 of the re-development (your
comments would be welcome).
PORTGORDON VILLAGE HALL (RECENTLY REFURBISHED):
Have a look through the building which has been recently refurbished (exterior repairs, new windows and doors, new toilets and disabled facilities, new heating and lighting. Have a chat with our Hall Committee Members – hear about plans for further improvements, forthcoming events and bookings etc. There will also be a small sale of hall items that are surplus to requirements.
HARBOUR COTTAGE:
Have a guided tour around the cottage which was also purchased earlier this year. Hear about our plans for the future of the building (air b and b, short or long term let).
PORTGORDON HARBOUR:
Hear about our ongoing discussions with the harbour owners, Crown Estate Scotland regarding the future of the harbour. Further work is currently being commissioned (subject to funding) to update the feasibility study, the business plan and carry out an options appraisal on the future maintenance and management of the harbour.
SUSTAINABILITY:
Hear about the steps being taken by PCT towards sustainability/reducing our carbon footprint through the carbon neutral approach to the community garden and the redevelopment of the
village hall, including the recently completed air to air heating system.
MEMBERSHIP AND VOLUNTEERING: Why not become a member of the Trust and have a say in the future. Membership is currently free, and members can give as much or as little of their time as they wish, or just show their support by joining the Trust. Hear about volunteer opportunities in the Community Garden, the Lampie Hoose café and in the Village Hall.

THE LAMPIE HOOSE CAFÉ:
Enjoy a complimentary tea/coffee/juice and a cake at our new community café (donations welcome), run by volunteers (opening officially on Monday 2nd October, initially 3 days a week Mon, Thurs, Saturday 10am – 3pm).
Why not also take along a picnic or a BBQ to enjoy on the green next to the harbour. There will be some games available for the kids (weather permitting).
Anyone from the local community, the surrounding area, and visitors are all welcome to attend and enjoy the day!
