On Sunday, the village came together for Portgordon’s Service of Remembrance – a special time to stop, reflect and remember those who gave so much so that we can live in peace today.

The weather was dreich, but people of all ages turned out, umbrellas in hand, to pay their respects. It was lovely to see such strong support across the generations, showing just how much remembrance still means to the community.

The service was led by Pastor Willie Aitken from Portgordon Community Church, with wreaths laid by representatives from Councillor Shona Morrison of Moray Council,  Jennifer McIntosh of Buckie Boys’ Brigade, representing the Lord Lieutenant, Sharon Aitken of Portgordon Community Church, Younus Jan of The Masonic Lodge, Jackson Wailes of Portgordon Primary School and Professor Peter Reid representing Portgordon Community Trust Ltd.  Each wreath was placed with care and pride on behalf of everyone in the village.

After the service, folk gathered in the Village Hall for a well-earned hot drink, fine piece and a blether. A big thank you goes to the brilliant volunteers who kept the tea flowing and the tables filled with home baking.
