The draft Portgordon Local Place Plan (LPP) has been developed with one aim at its heart: to give you, the community, the strongest possible voice in guiding the future of our village. We understand that change can sometimes feel like it’s happening around us—or even to us—but this plan is about making sure it happens with us.

This is not a finished product, and it’s certainly not a top-down directive. It’s a conversation, and this is your chance to be part of it.

What Is the Local Place Plan?

The Portgordon LPP is a shared vision created through local engagement, reflecting the ideas, concerns, and hopes of people who live and work here. It sets out priorities for how our village could grow and change over time—while protecting the things that matter most.

It’s designed to work alongside national and regional policies, but it starts right here in Portgordon. At its core, it’s about helping our community take more control over decisions that affect us all.

Why It Matters

This plan gives us the best opportunity to shape future development in Portgordon—on our terms. It lays the groundwork for improvements in:

• Local economy and job opportunities
• Housing and infrastructure
• Environmental care and green spaces
• Community wellbeing and inclusion

But it only works if the community stands behind it. That’s why this is the draft plan—because it still needs your feedback to finalise the plan prior to submission to Moray Council.

What Happens Next?

We’ll be collecting feedback on the draft LPP until Sunday 11th May 2025. After that, we’ll take time to reflect on what you’ve told us and make changes before the final plan is submitted.

This is just one step in a longer journey, and we’re here to walk it together. Through ongoing collaboration—with residents, businesses, local organisations and beyond—we can create a resilient, welcoming, and thriving Portgordon for generations to come.
