As you may recall, Vattenfall was planning to submit their Section 36 application by the end of this year to the Scottish Government for their redesigned Aultmore Wind Farm proposal; however, timescales have moved slightly and they are now looking to submit the application early next year.
Once they have submitted the application, they will issue another edition of their project newsletter to local households and anyone who has asked to be kept up to date with the proposal. The application and associated documentation will also be available to view online on both the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit (ECU) portal as well as their project website – and hard copies will be available in the local area for public viewing. The application will also be advertised in the local paper, as well as on their project website at www.vattenfall.co.uk/aultmore, and a statutory consultation held by the ECU for people to submit formal representations on the proposal.
You may be aware that, in addition to their August public exhibitions, they held a community benefit workshop in early September for local Community Councils and key anchor groups in response to the high level of interest in the potential benefit that the project could deliver to the area. They have now published the Community Benefit Fund Workshop Report, which summarises the workshop and key findings (also available on the project website), here. You may recognise some local faces!
In the new year they will have some further information on the onshore wind apprenticeship scheme that Vattenfall announced earlier this year – which commits to supporting around 50 apprenticeships by 2030 across Vattenfall’s onshore wind portfolio – with Aultmore being one of the areas of focus should the project be consented. They are also in dialogue with Buckie Harbour regarding their masterplan to explore the potential of accommodating turbine deliveries.
Lastly, they are holding some STEM workshops with Buckie High School and Keith Grammar in February with the aim of providing an insight into the renewable energy industry as well as developing employability skills.
