Progress Report: Contract Programme 1
We are pleased to provide you with an update on the progress of Contract Programme 1, which is scheduled to be completed on Wednesday, June 28th. We value transparency and aim to keep the public informed about the project’s status. These works have been commissioned by Strutt & Parker, current Estate Managers, in collaboration with Wallace Stone, with works being carried out by Strath Civil Engineering. Here are the key highlights:
Overall Status:
Currently, we are facing a slight delay, approximately half a week behind the planned schedule. This setback is mainly attributed to the challenging nature of the sluice tunnel infill, which has proven to be more complex than initially anticipated. However, our dedicated team is working diligently to mitigate these challenges and ensure a successful completion.
Project Timeline:
We are currently in week 8 of the project, steadily advancing towards our goal. Despite the minor delay, significant progress has been made in various areas.
Completed Tasks:
Here are the notable accomplishments achieved so far:
- Installation of Ladders 1, 2*, and 6 (*note: some slight adjustments required for Ladder 2).
- Successful installation of Grab Chain brackets 1, 2, 8, 9, and 10. Chain installation is pending and further information is required to proceed.
- Pouring of East pier deck slabs.
- Completion of Wave Wall 1 pouring. However, Wave Wall 3 experienced some damage and requires repairs.
- Successful infilling of the sluice tunnel.
- Completion of infilling for 4 scour holes.
- Grout repairs, following a letterbox style, have been carried out for repairs 2, 3, and 4.
- High-build repair mortar has been utilised for repairs 7 and 10.
Future Tasks (Next 4 Weeks):
In the upcoming weeks, we have planned the following activities:
- Continued grouting and pointing repairs, specifically repairs 1, 5, 6, and 13.
- Remaining installation of ladders and grab chains.
- Pouring of Wave Wall 1.
- Infilling the channel.
- Completion of mid-pier pinning works and deck slabs.
- Painting of mooring rings (information required).
- Installation of new handrails (information required).
We assure you that our team is committed to addressing the project challenges promptly and efficiently. We are working closely with stakeholders and relevant parties to ensure a successful and timely completion. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to deliver a high-quality end result.
As you will notice, there are works being carried out down at the harbour!

The permanent works consist of:
