For 27 years, the skies of Portgordon were illuminated with the dazzling brilliance of fireworks, bringing joy to residents and visitors alike. These spectacular display’s were the result of the hard work and dedication of an exceptional fireworks team. For years, they did not only provided breathtakingly visual experiences but have also significantly contributed to the local economy and community through generous donations to various local initiatives and organisations.

Made up of family orientated teams, the Legge’s, the Logans, the Reid’s, the Gordon’s & the Gunn family, supported by other organisations within the village and of course, a wider pool of volunteers to help steward the event, this group of fabulous folks was the cornerstone of the annual celebration, tirelessly working behind the scenes to ensure each event is a resounding success. Their expertise and commitment transformed what started as a few fireworks into unforgettable experiences, uniting visitors from all over Moray in celebration.

Beyond their exciting displays, the team’s impact was deeper rooted. Through their efforts, they supported a number of local causes, from helping to sustain essential services to fostering new initiatives that enhance the quality of life for all residents. Their contributions some of which were;

Portgordon Primary including outside seats during covid times, paid for the wiring of their defibrillator and replacement batteries, pads and a annual maintenance package as well as a replacement defibrillator for Portgordon Village Hal and the football pavilion, l just last year in association with Kieran’s Legacy again including a one year maintenance package.

They funded towards, Debbie’s Deliveries at the crunch time for when food & power bills were excessive in 2022/23

Several of the fireworks group volunteered during covid 19 with food parcel deliveries or running errands for prescriptions as well assisting when possible at Portgordon Open Doors.

Last year the group also purchased four Christmas Lights which were donated to the village via, Light Up Portgordon lead Laura Wailes.

Everything that was taken in at fireworks events was kept in Portgordon and donated to various organisations over the years, which is a sterling example of community wealth building!

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Portgordon Fireworks Team for their years of dedication and generosity. Their commitment to excellence and community spirit shone brightly, much like the fireworks that lit up our skies.
