Portgordon Community Trust held their Annual General Meeting on 27th March and reports were presented by Derek Murray (Chairman), Sonia Lawrance (Finance Director) and Michelle Good (Community Development Officer).
It was noted that the ‘Trust had a tremendous amount to be proud of, including the redevelopment of the Richmond Building, improvements to Portgordon Village Hall, the opening of The Lampie Hoose Café, the growing success of Portgordon’s Community Garden, our community newsletter (the Portgordon Post) and our new website’.
PCT were also delighted in October last year when The Lord-Lieutenant of Banffshire, Mr Andrew Simpson, accepted our invitation to become our Patron.
The Trust has recently hosted three community consultation events, which will help inform the ongoing Portgordon Harbour Feasibility Study and Options Appraisal, and the development of the Portgordon Local Place Plan.
A Portgordon Resilience Plan is also underway. Design work on the Richmond Building Phase 2 & 3 is also ongoing.
The Trust thanked all the directors, volunteers, and the local community for their support, and also thanked all their grant funding organisations and local contractors.
The Trust also thanked the Community Development Officer and confirmed that further funding has been secured to extend Michelle’s contract for a further year.
Two new Trustees were appointed at the AGM, Monalisa Herbert and Nick Midgley, and Office Bearers for the year ahead were elected as follows:
Chairman – Derek Murray
Vice Chairs – Sonia Lawrance and Rainer Herbert
Secretary – Denise Robson
